CHICAGO – U.S. Soccer announced on Friday that every match of the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup will be broadcast for fans to watch across the country, with the First and Second Rounds of the tournament available through the federation’s channels and those of the participating leagues.
Fans across the country will be able to tune into every thrilling moment of the First and Second Rounds on ussoccer.com, USLsoccer.com, and MLSsoccer.com, guaranteeing unparalleled access to the tournament and ensuring that soccer fans everywhere will have access to all the action as teams compete in the nation's oldest and most prestigious soccer competition.
Additional broadcast details for the later rounds will be announced in the near future as U.S. Soccer continues to make every effort to ensure that fans do not miss a single moment of this historic tournament.
Forty-seven clubs from the USL’s three senior divisions will compete in this year’s Open Cup, with 12 clubs from USL League One and 11 from USL League Two entering in the First Round. Five contests will see League One and League Two sides square off, including a meeting between League Two’s Vermont Green FC and League One’s Lexington SC on Tuesday, March 19 in the opening day of the tournament.
Wednesday night brings three more visits of League One clubs to League Two opposition as Ashville City FC plays host to One Knoxville SC, South Carolina United FC hosts Greenville Triumph SC, and reigning League Two title holder Ballard FC hosts League One newcomer Spokane Velocity FC. The round concludes on Thursday night featuring a clash between historic League Two club Western Mass Pioneers and 2021 League One title winner Union Omaha.
U.S. Soccer will be making its largest-ever investment in the tournament in 2024. With new commercial partners – including Marriott Bonvoy, Michelob Ultra, New York Life, and Nike – U.S. Soccer has prioritized enhanced financial incentives for participating teams, including significantly increased travel reimbursement. The Federation’s financial commitment also represents the most significant effort to date towards promotion of the tournament, underscoring U.S. Soccer’s dedication to fostering a more vibrant Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup experience for teams and fans alike.
